Like tequila? Lime? Salt? Love all three combined in one of summer's ultimate cocktails: the margarita? Then you'll want to be sipping riverside for ten days between Friday, February 17–Sunday, February 26. How better to celebrate International Margarita Day?

Howard Smith Wharves is getting into the spirit of the occasion with ample spirits, all at a festival it's calling HSW Margarita Week. Yes, it goes for longer than seven days, but that just means more excuses to hit up the inner-city precinct's venues for drinks.

From day one, La Mexicana, Mr Percival's, Gigi's Homestyle Cooking, Felons Brewing Co and Felons Barrel Hall, Ciao Papi, Stanley, Yoko, Greca and Fiume will all be serving up 'ritas — or marg-inspired sips. Mr Percival's is going with blackberry margaritas, plus frozen coconut and mango versions, for instance. Over at Ciao Papi, an Italian take on a Tommy's margarita features basil and tomato leaf is on the menu.

Not one to be left out, Felons has whipped up a margarita sour using 190 litres of locally sourced lime juice, six kilograms of fresh lime zest, and salt and tequila.

Food-wise, Mr Percival's and Felons are also doing guacamole, tacos and churros.

And, because knocking back 'ritas is an excuse to party, there'll be two of them throughout the fest: a lawn shindig hosted by La Mexicana on from 2pm daily on Saturday, February 18–Sunday, February 19, complete with a live mariachi band; and a stint of closing fun the water at Mr Percival's from 1pm on Sunday, February 26.
